How effective is solar in overcast conditions?

Photovoltaic panels (AKA solar panels) use direct or indirect sunlight to generate electricity, although they are most efficient in direct sunlight. Solar panels will continue to produce electricity even when the sunlight is reflected, or partially or blocked by clouds.
